About your playground:
Due to the changing population in Herndon to young married couples with children. There was a movement to revitalize the playground area with new playground equipment, pathways, benches, landscaping and a parking area. This playground would serve the children of Herndon residents and children from the surrounding area. A pavilion with picnic tables is available for community gatherings.

Playground Project started in 2014 with the installation of new playground equipment and improvement to the area surrounding this equipment.  The rear banks were cleared of 30+ years of plant growth in preparation of planting ground cover in the spring of 2015. The equipment was paid by financial grants from the Degenstein Foundation & Pennsylvania DCNR. The grounds were prepared by volunteer labor of the local residents.

Over the winter months we are thankful to have received a donation from PP&L to help us financially continue to work toward our goals for the playground project. We would like to thank the local businesses and people of our area for the continued support of the project for our children.

The plans for this spring 2015 is to hydro seed the embankment that sits east of the playground area, and holds as the backdrop this area of our Herndon Borough.  Additionally, we are hoping to complete the ADA parking space, along with an ADA approved pathway throughout the playground area.  We have also purchased new benches, and are hoping to have them put in place along with some landscaping to round out the project.
