ALERTS - Burning Violations - Updated 9/17/2017:

A continued reminder that unlawful burning is both a nuisance and an EPA health hazard.  Borough Residents are asked to review the Burning Ordinance Summary and comply with the Herndon Borough Burning Ordinance 2013-082 (with amendments 1 & 2).  Residents who witness burning violations are asked to contact the borough office, 570-758-3264.  Or, complete an Online Complaint Form and turn in to the Borough Office, or give to your Council Member, or Mayor.

Borough Residents are also asked to be observant at our town’s playground.  There has been a decrease of vandalism but our community needs to remain alert.  If acts of vandalism are witnessed, residents are asked to call 911 and report the crime.  Questions or comments can be called into the borough office, 570-758-3264.

Council Approves the purchase of equipment

Borough Council, at the August 2017 Council Meeting, authorized the purchase of a new lawnmower and associated accessories.  The former mower's engine blew and was not cost effective to repair.

Borough Council, at the March 7th, 2016 Council Meeting, authorized the purchase of new Ford F250 truck, snowplow and associated accessories. The Council had received complaints from residents on how the past winter's big snow fall was handled.  The Borough's snow removal equipment was not capable of handling the snow fall amount broke down due age and wear. The Council looks at purchasing used equipment again. However with the new purchase, the truck will be covered with a five year warranty. The truck will be purchased by a five year payment contract. Funds "from the "Liquid Fuels  Account and General Fund Account" are available to cover payments this year. Council will revisit this issue at the end of year budgeting process for 2017. A tax increase maybe necessary to cover the Borough's portion of the future required payments.
